Canon Anne Hollinghurst is Chaplain to Bishop Nigel, as well as a Residentiary Canon of Manchester Cathedral. Before coming to the Diocese of Manchester in January 2005, she was on the staff of Derby Cathedral as Chaplain, and was Anglican Chaplain and Pastoral Services Co-ordinator at the University of Derby, as well as an accredited lecturer in the Religious Studies Department.
Prior to that, she served in a couple parishes in deprived areas of Nottingham, where before ordination she was also in full time inner-city youth work. She is married to Steve, who is also a priest – working currently as a Researcher and Consultant with the Sheffield Centre.
Her role is to support and resource the Bishop in his various responsibilities. In relation to the Diocese, she has several areas of particular responsibility, which include overseeing the Ministerial Development Review Scheme, the programme of confirmations across the diocese, and she is the main diocesan link with the Inter-Diocesan Child Protection Adviser.
She is available to help and advise clergy with a variety of queries and pastoral concerns, and to be a ‘first port of call’ in relation to these.
