During the Bishop of Manchester's recent parish pilgrimage to Bury Parish Church, the North West Faith Tourism Association presented the church with a marquee of exellence in recognition of its hospitality and welcome facilities.
Joanna Booth from the North West Multifaith Tourism Association (NWMTA) spoke at the community reception and the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch, presented the award to Revd Gordon Joyce.
John Uden, PCC member of Bury Parish Church, said, "Since our Step Inside Appeal a few years ago we have been working towards having the church open all the times with our bookshop and cafe. We had been developing our "welcome" in a piecemeal way and the audit process for the award was very helpful in establishing our achievements and weaknesses."
