Sharing Skills

Linking

One of the simplest and most effective ways to multiply the good we can do is by passing it on, and by starting further down the track. Each of us has a story of encouragement, stories of our own experience; when we start a project, others will most likely have tried similar things elsewhere. Let us find out what else is happening and be willing to help share our resources of knowledge, expertise and experience with others. We would like to try and facilitate the sharing of this knowledge.

Sharing Skills

There are two broad types of skills we are thinking of: First the more obvious where someone has the skill to do something, whether set up a toddler group, access funding or encourage musicians to join a choir or music group; but there is also the skill of experience/encouraging. When a new idea is being put forward at a PCC, it can be very helpful to have an ‘ordinary’ member of another church where a similar idea has been tried, share their experience, give a testimony of what it felt like and how it happened.

We would like to begin to draw up a list of people who have particular skills and experiences that we can then link with where such skills or experience is needed. We hope people will offer their own skills and experiences, as well as the projects their parishes have been involved in. Our commitment would be to ensure that those that offer will not be ‘abused’ by being expected to do more than was agreed, or find themselves losing out on their own parish.
