Manchester Diocese Board of Education Children's Work Officer
The Children's Work Officer is Revd Steve Dixon. He provides the following services to parishes in the diocese:
Communication
- Termly MANNA newsletter
- Inserts into clergy mailing
- 'Networking' via Deanery Links and fostering inter-parish contacts
- Links with other organisations and campaigns, e.g. Christian Aid, MANYOG
Resources
- Advise visitors to the Resource Centre at Church House
- Hold Open Evenings at the Resource Centre
- Purchase and recommend new resources
- Produce or commission packs on various topics
Training
- Annual training programme, toured around the diocese
- Short sessions at Open Evenings
- Contribution to management and delivery of Kaleidoscope courses
- Input to Readers/OLM/POT training programmes
- Organising and contributing to special events, e.g. Diocesan Conferences, Children's Services.
- Preaching
Consultation
- Response to requests from parishes and other bodies, e.g. Mothers' Union, Deanery Synods or Chapters on a variety of topics.
- Admission of Children to Communion before Confirmation: promotion, advice, research, production of resources.
- Child Protection: general enquiries, input to Child Protection Support Group (CPSG) training programme, secretary to CPSG.
