Core Skills for Children's Work

This six-session equipping programme leads to achieving Level 2 of the diocesan Bishop’s Certificate in Children’s Ministry.

The first three sessions were run on 26 May. The final three sessions will run on 23 June as follows:

9.15 – 9.30 Arrivals/coffee

9.30 – 11.00 SESSION 4: CHILDREN AND COMMUNITY

Different ways of including children in the life of the church
Developing and promoting a ‘vision for children in our church’
What your church could offer children in the neighbourhood

11.00 – 11.15 Coffee

11.15 – 12.45 SESSION 5: PASTORAL AWARENESS

Checking on knowledge about keeping children safe in our churches
How adults use their authority
How to be supportive to children dealing with difficult situations

12.45 – 1.30 Lunch

1.30 – 3.00 SESSION 6: SPIRITUALITY AND THE BIBLE

Thinking about what the words ‘spirituality’ and ‘faith’ mean to you
Helping children use the Bible in spiritual and prayerful ways
Experiencing different Bible-based activities

Bring a packed lunch – tea and coffee provided
