Experience Easter is an invitational event open to churches throughout the diocese. The project was agreed to be a great success by many of the churches who took part last Easter.
Experience Easter involves running special events and services for people of all ages. A Resource Pack outlines the activities, which include making themed ‘stations of the cross’ in church, which children and adults can participate in to ‘live the story’.
There are also the amazing Eggventure beads that are a fun and interactive way for children to learn and enjoy the Easter story.
At a time of year when hollow eggs with chocolate shells fill the shelves, here’s an Easter Egg with substance that helps teach children the true meaning of Easter.
Eggventure beads are great fun, look good and last longer than chocolate! Designer, Marksteen Adamson, said, “The Eggventure beads were created to help parents and teachers guide children through the Easter story while having fun along the way. There are two varieties: the shiny pretty “Gems” and the more earthy “Tribal”.
Each egg contains 21 beads which each represent part of the Easter story. These can be threaded on to a bracelet, and the booklet tells you about each bead and the part it plays in relation to Easter, from Shrove Tuesday to Easter Day.
Churches can order the Eggs (£2 each) and Resources packs (£8) from www.experienceeaster.org.
“I’m sure the whole programme encouraged the congregation to see Easter as an outreach opportunity.” (Revd Kathryn Fleming)
“We had Easter Day attendance of Christmas proportions; many children who had used the stations material for end of term worship brought family members back for Easter Day.” (Revd Simon Richards)
“I was amazed at the discussions I heard and the depth of the children’s comments.” Janita Hills (Headteacher)
“Using modern material sensitively in an ancient parish church made a huge impact, and was positively endorsed by the other denominations in the town.” (Revd David Primrose)
