Key People
Our new Canon Evanglist is Tony Hardy, who takes up the post in June 2009. Tony has experience of setting up Fresh Expressions of Church, including C3 in Stockport.
The Evangelism Task Group meets every other month. The group contains about 30 lay and ordained people, some of whom represent their home deanery. The members, of many different traditions in the church, have a passion for evangelism in our diocese and a desire to see the church grow as more people hear the Good News of Jesus Christ proclaimed.
In the past, several diocesan events have been planned, organised and publicised by various members of the group within an overall diocesan strategy. This includes: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe events at the Cathedral; Da Vinci nights; Shake This Place, and other events. Members of the group also assist parishes with Plan for Growth, Mission Weekends and other parish mission opportunities.
The group also exists to:
- pray for each other and the events being planned;
- plan and support events organised by the group and offered to the diocese;
- publicise events at home deaneries and parishes.
