Other resources

  • Run the Race. The bishop will continue his pilgrimage to parishes, encouraging growth, mission and involvement in the local community. If you haven’t yet had a visit and would like to book one please contact Canon Roger Hill (0161 792 2096).
  • Invitation Services. There are some key times in the year when we can invite people to church: Easter, Autumn, hopefully doing the best ‘Back to Church Sunday’ we have ever done and, perhaps, combining it with Harvest. Christmas, making it once again a ‘Real Christmas’!
  • Enquirers’ Groups. These are a proven and do-able piece of effective evangelism particularly suited to parishes. Every church is encouraged to run at least one during the year.
  • Mission Weekends. Every year, we run about 30 mission weekends. We want to double this number. To get involved or find out more, contact Canon Robin Gamble (0161 438 2834).

Silver Service

Practical ideas and opportunities for reaching older people with the Christian message.

Why is it that as soon as the word evangelism is mentioned the first people that we often think about are children and young families? Older people are just as important. They, like everyone else, have both a need and a human right to hear the gospel. The Good News enhances everyone’s life in the here and now and prepares us all for the reality of eternal life. God’s love and mercy are for everyone.

The booklet is not theoretical but practical. It contains 12 suggestions, all provided by practitioners from within the Manchester Diocese. It is meant to be read by lots of different church members; the more who read it, become informed and motivated, then the greater the impact of this wonderful ministry.

Produced by the Manchester Diocesan Evangelism Task Group.
