In 2009 the Diocesan Synod agreed to allocate a percentage of its stipends budget to fund posts which were pioneering in mission – effectively experimenting to find new ways to connect with people, share the gospel and build Christian community. Their projects are briefly described in the Fresh Expressions section.
The diocese is working to a plan to appoint four young adults missioners, one for each Archdeaconry. Two have been appointed: Revd Paul Dever for the Bolton Archdeaconry and Revd Jo Farnworth in the Rochdale Archdeaconry. Both these posts are half time and shared with leadership of a church and parish. They are both mission support priests.
