Mahoro's campaign gets Bishop's support

18 June 2009

Bishop Nigel's Run the Race Pilgrimage to Holy Innocents' Fallowfield saw him publicly endorse Adela Mahoro, a parishioner whose "Mahoro Must Stay" campaign against deportation is supported by Holy Innocents, Fallowfield.

Mahoro is active in HIV/AIDS education and training, and her contribution to Manchester's life was recognised by the City Council who unanimously passed a motion in her support last year.

See Honoured by the Council but she still can't stay.

She's recently been elected as a trustee to the Roman Catholic group Positive Catholics. For more information, to hear her appeal on Youtube and to send a message of support, visit www.holyinnocentsfallowfield.org.uk

Mahoro's appeal for asylum has been supported by over 3000 individuals including John Leech (her Lib Dem MP) who has raised her case in the House of Commons with the Prime Minister, Lord Keith Bradley (Lab.), Peter Bottomley (Con. MP) and Bishops Stephen Lowe and Michael Lewis.

If refused asylum and sent back to face her torturers, she will be unable to get the special combination of anti-retroviral drugs she needs to survive.
