Manchester Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) will host this year's National Church Buildings Council Conference for DACs to take place in September.
The theme of the conference is “Yesterday’s churches for Today’s Church” and in commemoration of the event Canon Arthur Dobb has written “The VII Ages of Man-chester", which is a history of the diocese.
Every drawing in the book has been done by Arthur himself. Arthur’s original brief was to prepare an introduction to the diocese for the conference but his interest and enthusiasm led him to research and write a fascinating history of the diocese. For example did you know that Chetham’s Library was the first free public library in Europe?
The book will be available for sale at the St Denys Bookshop. Call them on 0161 835 1069.
