On Sunday 12 July at Manchester Cathedral six new Readers were licensed: Abayomi Akinade (St Edmund, Whalley Range), David Barron (St Clement, Spotland), Margaret Irwin (St Luke, Halliwell), David Kendrick (Astley, Tyldesley & Mosley Common), Susan Nangle (Bacup & Stacksteads Team) and Barry Wild (St Martin, Castleton).
There were also six Readers made Emeritus - Harold Baxter, Maureen Gooding, John McKee, Alan Morris, Margery Spencer and Fred Vickers. At the service, it was calculated that together these six had served the church as Readers for 148 years. (Two other Readers who were also made Emeritus were unable to be present – Allan Moore and Sylvia Priddey.)
Congratulations to them all as they start their new ministries around the diocese.
