Manchester, Chester and Liverpool dioceses have joined together to develop a nine-month programme for teachers aspiring to become leaders in Church of England schools.
This programme is the first of its kind locally and nationally and we are delighted that it has been validated by Chester University and awarded 60 Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CAT) points, on completion, towards a masters degree. Thirty nine delegates are participating in the first cohort which was launched at Liverpool Cathedral in June 2009.
A particular strength of the programme is that it helps the participant to explore critically and in depth, secular and theological models of leadership; where they stand as potential leaders within this and what it might look like in practice in the daily life of a school.
These are challenging times in the recruitment of headteachers and deputy headteachers, particularly in church schools. However, the response to the diploma has been such that we as dioceses have every reason to be confident about the future leadership of our schools and the quality of the distinctive provision for pupils and their families.
If you are interested in applying for a place on the programme to start in June 2010, contact Janet Cowley on 0161 828 1432 or email jcowley@manchester.anglican.org
