Last week we asked you to pray for Niko Niemi who was missing from home. On Friday Niko’s body was found in a nearby harbour. The circumstances of his death are not fully known and police have begun an investigation. This is very sad news for his family and friends.
Niko was only 23 and was the son of Anne-Katriina Niemi, a member of Harmala parish who recently visited St Mary’s Daveyhulme in August and who was also a leader on the confirmation camp in Tampere which was visited this year by a group of young people from the Diocese of Manchester
He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with Niko’s parents, his family and those who loved him. Please remember them in your prayers.
Father of all,
we pray for those whom we love, but see no longer.
Grant them your peace;
let light perpetual shine upon them;
and in your loving wisdom and almighty power
work in them the good purpose of your perfect will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God our creator and redeemer,
by your power Christ conquered death
and entered into glory.
Confident of his victory
and claiming his promises,
we entrust Niko to your mercy
in the name of Jesus our Lord,
who died and is alive
and reigns with you,
now and forever.
Amen.
