Cuddly toys and teddies will be taking a leap of faith from the tower of St George's in Mossley on Saturday 21 August in a bid to riase money for building repairs.
The brave bears will be lining up to plunge from the 90-foot church tower in a sponsored parachute jump. The furry friends will be given a certificate to mark their achievement.
Fr Lindsay explained "We will be holding a sponsored teddy bear parachute jump on 21 August from 2.30pm. The idea came about when we read about a priest who had done a sponsored abseil. We found it would cost at least £500 in insurance to do something similar, so we thought about asking the bears to do a jump instead, since they don't need insurance."
Fr Lindsay is hoping for a bumper turnout of teddies. All cuddly toys with a head for heights are welcome to step up for the challenge.
