Ministers in Secular Employment (MSEs) exercise their ordained ministry primarily in their place of work. They are paid by their employer to do their job, but they see themselves as having also a priestly ministry in that place of work, which may or may not be recognised by the employer.
There is a network for MSEs called CHRISM (CHRIstians in Secular Ministry) that offers support and development. Visit www.chrism.org.uk for details.
Revd Catherine Binns and Revd Rob Fox are setting up a local MSE support group and are also willing to give advice on MSE for those who have this vocation. They are both commitee members of CHRISM.
They can be contacted by email: Catherine: revcathfrog@talktalk.net and Rob: rob.foxesbridge@tiscali.co.uk.
The Bishop of Bolton holds regular meetings with NSM/MSE ministers.
