Child Protection

Parish Child Protection Officers are supported by Su Foster, Inter-diocesan Child Protection Advisor. Su works for three dioceses: Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.

Su has responsibility for ensuring that child protection policies are adhered to across our parishes. She runs training days and events and makes sure information on best practice is available to parishes. Su can also advise on recruitment of children's work volunteers.

Vetting and Barring

New Government Legislation in the protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults begins to take effect from October 2009. There are important responsibilities for churches in meeting this legislation and training has been provided to address this.

It is important that those with responsibility in the parish are aware of the changes in legislation, and the impact on how parishes need to register people working with children or vulnerable adults. Links and information
