Effective schools have a positive ethos and Church schools are widely regarded because of their Christian ethos. Each school has developed its ethos in relation to the context in which it works and some of our schools have been successful in winning national awards.
Schools now are explicit in their action plans about how they are developing their Christian character and about the values they promote.
www.christianvalues4schools.co.uk identifies the distinctive values that make Christian schools popular with parents and students, and promotes ways of living out those values in the day-to-day activities of a busy school environment.
The national Church of England website contains more details on school ethos:
Manchester Diocesan Board of Education has produced guidance on what constitutes the ethos of church schools, and a means of evaluating the degree to which schools are effective in this area.
The Education Department also offers all new headteachers a free ethos health check of their school. For further details please contact Malcolm Finney.
