All Christians are called to minister ('serve'). We are called to love God and to love our neighbours. We are called to be active in our praying and our worship, not just sitting back and letting others get on with it.
"We are what God has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” (Ephesians 2.10)
How do we discover what God wants us to be doing? Ideally this is a partnership, where the church, through vicar and PCC is encouraging wider and greater involvement, and where individuals are able to put themselves forward and contribute. Ministry is not just about leading worship, or reading the lessons; equally important are the ministries of welcome and hospitality, and of keeping the building, grounds and activity happening well, through helping develop good notice sheets / news-sheets, keeping the grounds tidy, hosting a prayer-meeting. Some have time and abilities to offer as Churchwarden, Treasurer or Church Secretary. Some have a ministry of visiting the elderly, sick or housebound.
