Civic Links
To strengthen links between the Church of England and the Local Authorities in Greater Manchester and Rossendale, the Bishop of Manchester appointed a Borough Dean (Civic Link Officer) for each city or borough within the diocese.
The prompt for this move was a specific request by Chief Executives and their representatives at a meeting convened at Bishopscourt to discuss the ways in which the churches and local authorities could work together – in line with the third part of our diocesan strategy: “serving communities”.
