Christian stewardship is about giving the best of our time, abilities and possessions to God, and giving to people and the physical world the respect that is proper to God’s creativity. While this is a Christian duty, it is not duty alone that motivates Christians to give themselves in the service of God and humanity. It is the experience of God’s love for us in Jesus Christ that creates the motivation and the desire to serve others for His sake.
The creativity of God and the creativity that God gives to human beings are traditional starting points of Christian theology. Consequently, the way that Christians handle the gifts of God is of high importance, with implications for Christian approaches to ecology and the environment, social and economic justice, work-life balance, personal and corporate finances, charitable giving and volunteering.
You will find in this section of the site resources to help you and your parish develop these very practical sides of Christian discipleship – not all at once, but appearing over the next few months.
