Diocesan Vocations Strategy

We all recognise the need to grow healthy churches and healthy ministries where each person hears God’s call to serve and is best equipped to do that. But we also know that good growth takes time.

For some God’s growth will be to serve more fruitfully as lay people in our churches and communities, for others it will be to grow into licensed ministry as Accredited Lay Ministers, Readers, Ordained Ministers or other.

To encourage healthy growth in every aspect of our lives, the Diocesan Vocations Strategy is inviting parishes over the next three years to focus on a model of ‘Sowing, Growing and Harvesting’.

In 2013 ‘Sowing’ - preparing good soil, engaging & responding to the Gospel call on our lives

In 2014 ‘Growing’ – in discipleship, in knowing and following Christ

In 2015 ‘Harvesting’ – looking at how to harvest our gifts in ministry.

Key to the strategy is the Resource Event each year for clergy and PCC reps. There, clergy and PCC reps will be briefed on the variety of free resources available which they can then discuss with their PCCs.
