Messy Church is a broad term for activity-based, innovative, expressions of church that appeal to the whole family.
It’s usual for Messy Church to take place at a time (and sometimes in a place) that suits people who don't belong to traditional church and would probably find a typical Sunday service off-putting. Messy Church is church for people at all stages of their faith journey and of any age - a congregation that is as valuable and worthy of investment as any other.
There are some wonderful examples around the Diocese of Manchester and how Messy Church is helping churches engage with their communities in new ways. Like any other plan, Messy Church isn’t something that should be entered into lightly, and it may not prove suitable for every church.
