There are nearly 200 Church of England primary and secondary schools across the Diocese of Manchester. Every day we educate over 57,000 pupils, the second highest number of pupils of all the dioceses in the country. Our schools are distinctive in terms of their ethos, their leadership and management, their religious education and collective worship. They are also very diverse.
In Manchester, our schools:
- are in predominantly urban areas, though a smaller number serve children in dispersed moorland villages
- consistently appear in the list of England’s highest performing schools
- serve the needs of children who live in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods
- serve children of all faiths and none (including primary schools with an almost exclusively Muslim population).
