Fundraise while you shop
29 October 2019 IN: Parish News
Are you an online shopper? Did you know that you can raise money, up to 2.5% of the purchase price, to support your church at no extra cost to yourself?
Christmas is fast approaching and you’ll be buying presents for friends and family, or you could be planning a holiday, purchasing home/car insurance, new broadband or mobile phone contract or buying the weekly food shop, etc.
Around 4000 online retailers provide small ‘thank you’ donations in gratitude to customers who shop with them. The money is passed on to charities and good causes, including churches. Why not take advantage of this free cash?
1. AmazonSmile (for registered charities only)
Amazon donates 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to a charitable organisation of the shopper’s choice. Church charities can register at org.amazon.co.uk
A shopper then visits www.smile.amazon.co.uk to start their online shopping experience. The site provides the same Amazon products, service and prices. If you use the Amazon app you can easily alter the settings to make donations to your church via AmazonSmile.
2. Easyfundraising and Give as you Live
These services turn up to 2.5% of the value of your online shopping into free donations for your church. Once the church is registered, let your supporters know so they can create their own accounts linked to your church.
These services are free to use for churches/good causes and individuals! The key to their success is ensuring they are well promoted to your congregation and local community, and all of the above organisations provide a variety of materials to help you do this.
