Year 6 Leavers services go online
16 July 2020 IN: Schools
Usually at this time of year Manchester Cathedral is packed with 11-year-olds who crowd in with their teachers for special Year 6 Leavers Services. It's an opportunity to celebrate their years at primary school and look to the future as they prepare to move to secondary school in September.
This year, because of the pandemic, the diocese has created a short service that schools can lead in school or online. We expect the service to be shared at many of our 180 primary schools across the dicoese.
Children's Officer, Karen Beal, said "We have been busy putting some films together and we are grateful to those organisations who have shared resources so freely during this time. It was great as always to be able to include some year 7 pupils from a couple of our high schools too. We are also developing a Worship 2 Go resource on transition to be used in the home and look out for some ideas to follow around Education Sunday on 13 September."
