Church for a Different World awards 2021

First published on: 16th June 2021

During 2021 our world has been constrained by restrictions placed on us by the continuing Coronavirus pandemic. Churches have had to make difficult decisions about how to open their doors safely for worship in the church building, and the balance in continuing to offer meetings online.

Different parts of the diocese have at times lived with different levels of restrictions, and all have been unable to hold social gatherings and provide pastoral support in the usual ways.

But far from closing the church, coronavirus has demonstrated that we are indeed a Church for a Different World, able to adapt to a situation that we could not have imagined a couple of years ago.

Bishop David wishes to continue to celebrate the inspirational and innovative work which is growing throughout the diocese. We invite you to apply a Church for a Different World Award.  The focus this year is on how churches and chaplaincies have begun to embed new initiatives that began under lockdown and which are now becoming an established part of life, mission and ministry.

The Church for a Different World Awards encourage us to share our good practice, learn from each other, and celebrate what is good.  Your church/chaplaincy is invited to submit an application. The projects which are highly commended will be celebrated in the autumn, either at a virtual party or a physical gathering at Bishopscourt, if circumstances permit.

To apply for an award, please complete the application form and submit by 15 August 2021. Please do not re-apply for an award for the same project as other years.
