Pray, Act, Be: diocesan Year of Prayer

First published on: 11th November 2020

As the diocese prepares for new deanery arrangements and reflects on the proposal for Mission Communities, we have a wonderful opportunity to underpin the journey with prayer. Each month we will explore prayer on a different theme, shaped by a three-fold invitation to:

PRAY - to worship God where we are and as we are
ACT - to make a practical response to God’s love
BE - to rest in the company of God.

Our relationship with space and silence may well have changed over the last year. For some, staying at home has made silence feel impossible or overwhelming. However, the silence of God is never empty. Perhaps a better image is one where we seek to turn down the volume on ourselves and the world … as Elijah discovered, the Voice of God is heard not in the earthquake or the storm, but in stillness.

During the month of November, you are invited to listen to that still small voice of God, to:

PRAY – Join Revd Liz Devall in a reflective service of silence and contemplation every Sunday in November. Join in on Facebook or keep an eye on our social media channels.

ACT – Find space and silence to listen to the words of others. Create the opportunity for someone else to experience space and silence.

BE – Be open to hearing what God has to share with you in times of quiet spaciousness. Be still.

Share your experiences!

As we come together in prayer, we would love to see your response to our November theme. Share your prayers, thoughts and creative responses on social media using the hashtags:
