We are saddened to hear that Darrell Blakeley from St Michael's Church in Middleton, died on Friday after testing positive for Coronavirus.
St Michael's Tonge Cum Alkrington has invited people, through its Facebook page, to create a digital 'WALL OF KINDNESS' in response to the request from Darrell's family to reach out to all in need in loving acts of kindness, instead of flowers. The family asks people to offer help to someone who is lonely or struggling during this time, who needs shopping, childcare or a chat.
Vicar of St Michael's, The Revd Jackie Calow, said, "We want to thank Darrell's family for this lovely way to remember him as a faithful, gracious gentleman, gifted with a beautiful reading and singing voice. Darrell was a member of St Michael's for over 50 years, who sang in our church choir.
"Rest in Peace Darrell. We are going to miss you but your memory will live on through these acts of kindness and those who receive them."
