Bishop Chris has the Episcopal brief for issues concerning ordained and lay discipleship and training: e.g. vocations, formation, continuing ministerial education, retired clergy, evangelism, stewardship, healing, deliverance, etc. He is our senior representative on the Regional Training Partnership. He covers Anglican chaplaincy aspects of the prisons and airport and is the main Episcopal link with Lahore.
Bishop Chris has immediate Episcopal concern for the Archdeaconries of Bolton and Salford.
Chris Edmondson was Warden of Lee Abbey, a Christian Community and Conference Centre in Devon, before being appointed Bishop of Bolton in March 2008.
He trained at St John’s College Durham, he was a curate of Kirkheaton, Huddersfield, Vicar of St George, Ovenden and later Priest in Charge of Bampton with Mardale in Carlisle. He spent over 10 years as the Bishop’s Advisor on Evangelism first in Wakefield and later in Carlisle. He was Vicar of St Peter’s, Shipley before becoming Warden of Lee Abbey.
Lee Abbey is a highly respected interdenominational Christian community that encourages people to live in community and discover God creatively in worship and life. Thousands of people attend courses and go on retreat there every year.
