Our much-valued colleague, Ruth Gent, will be leaving her current post as Deanery Enabler for Manchester South and Stretford on 18 December 2025 after serving the diocese for nearly nine years.
Ruth first joined the diocese in January 2017 as an administrator in the Education Team. In this role she thoroughly supported the team with care and exuberance. During her time as administrator, Ruth visited our link diocese of Lahore which hugely impacted her, and subsequently she developed a passion for the link and people of Pakistan – something which still informs much of her work.
In 2023, Ruth moved to her new post with the ManDio Growing Faith Team. Since then, Ruth has helped to create and strengthen youth and children’s ministry across the deanery, bringing her energy, positivity and determination to everything she has been involved in. Ruth has been pivotal in developing services for families of neurodivergent children, particularly This Is Church at St Luke’s Benchill, and has also been key to the evolving Forest Church work across the diocese.
So many of her colleagues from across both Manchester South and Stretford Deanery and the wider diocese will miss Ruth’s warmth, great sense of humour, and passion for children and young people to come to know Jesus. We wish her all the very best in her new role with Wigan Social Services’ Family Team.
