Bishop David Welcomes Removal of Two-Child Benefit Limit

Bishop David welcomes the removal of a policy that has been one of the biggest drivers of child poverty.

Responding to the news that the government will remove the two-child benefit limit, that will come into effect in full from April, the Rt Revd Dr David Walker, Bishop of Manchester said:

“I welcome the Government’s decision to remove the two-child limit on Universal Credit. For years, this policy has been one of the biggest drivers of child poverty in the UK. It forces families into impossible choices and deepens hardship for those already struggling. Its removal is a vital step towards restoring dignity and fairness to our welfare system and to stemming the growth of child poverty.”
