Appeal for Support: Flood Relief and Long-Term Recovery in Pakistan

In recent weeks, devastating floods have brought great suffering to many families in Pakistan.

In recent weeks, devastating floods have brought great suffering to many families in Pakistan. Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods lost, and entire families displaced. Our Link partner Diocese in Lahore, through their local churches and with God’s provision, are committed to responding with both immediate relief and long-term solutions.

Their immediate goals are:

Providing urgent food rations and, where necessary, blankets and other essentials to displaced families.

Assisting with the repair or rebuilding of homes and church buildings. In some cases, roofs have collapsed under heavy rain; in others, entire houses are uninhabitable. Where possible, they also want to help families rebuild on higher ground to reduce the risk of future flooding.

Supporting families who have lost their sole source of income, such as a cow or buffalo, by replacing animals and restoring livelihoods.

Their long-term vision is:

To build resilience against future disasters. One way they hope to achieve this is by developing a small dairy farm just outside Lahore as a social enterprise. This farm would provide healthy, additive-free milk to the community, while also breeding animals that could be gifted to families affected by future crises. Surpluses from the farm could further support local development work, while reinvestment would ensure the farm’s growth and sustainability.

An idea of costs:

Food rations for a family of 6–8 for one month: 12,000–15,000 PKR (£30–40). For just over £1 per day, a whole family can be fed while they recover.

A cow: 80,000 PKR (£200) for a young animal, or 600,000 PKR (£1500) for one already able to provide milk and income.

A new roof for a rain-damaged home: 200,000 PKR (£500).

A simple two-room brick home with washroom and kitchen area: 1,000,000–1,200,000 PKR (£2600–3000).

We are asking, this Harvest time, whether you would consider standing with our sisters and brothers in the Diocese of Lahore. Whether through prayer, financial support, or sharing this need with others, your contribution can make a real difference in restoring hope and dignity to families who have lost so much.
