A vacancy recently arose in the House of Laity of General Synod, offering a unique opportunity to represent the concerns of our communities and the Diocese of Manchester at a national level.

General Synod is the national decision-making body of the Church of England. A vacancy recently arose in the House of Laity of General Synod, offering a unique opportunity to represent the concerns of our communities and the Diocese of Manchester at a national level.

An election has taken place to fill this seat. We are now able to announce that the following candidate has been elected:

  • John Hobson – Oldham Parish Church

Congratulations to John, who will now serve on the General Synod for the remainder of the current term (2021–2026). Thank you to everyone who stood for the election and to those who voted.
