A Glorious Day for the Manchester & Salford Whit Walk 2026
The Spring Bank Holiday brought glorious sunshine for the annual Manchester & Salford Whit Walk.
There was glorious sunshine for the Manchester and Salford Ecumenical Whit Walks on Monday. This year, we were blessed to be joined by the highest number of churches in recent memory, who proudly displayed their banners and were led by brass bands through the streets of Manchester.

The procession began at Manchester Cathedral and made its way to St Peter’s Square, where a shared act of worship took place, accompanied by beautiful singing from the Sing My Soul Choral Scholars. We were delighted to be joined by the Revd Canon Kate Bottley, who preached to the gathered crowds.
The day was a joyous expression of faith and fellowship, and many turned out to line the streets and show their support. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, either by walking with us, coming to cheer and support those in the procession, or by working behind the scenes to help make the day such a success.

Running the Whit Walks involves significant costs, including traffic management, sound systems, technical support, and insurance. To help meet these costs and ensure that this treasured tradition continues for future generations, the organising committee’s GoFundMe appeal remains open. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and make a real, practical difference in keeping the Whit Walks on the streets of Manchester.

Marking the hottest day of the year so far, a record number of our parishes were in attendance. We’ve gathered several social posts below that capture the event! Can you spot our Transforming Prayer Community banner?
