The Manchester Diocesan Board of Finance is seeking an organised and proactive Governance Administrator to support the Diocese’s key governance structures and ensure the effective coordination of meetings, documentation and reporting across our programmes and projects. This role is based at St John’s House in Bury and offers the option for occasional home working. From time to time, the role may require evening or weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be provided.

Working closely with the Transformation Director, Governance Manager, senior clergy, support officers and other internal stakeholders, the postholder will play an essential role in ensuring that governance processes run smoothly. The position includes scheduling programme and project board meetings, collating and distributing agenda papers, taking accurate minutes and maintaining action logs. The Governance Administrator will also be responsible for managing electronic filing systems, following up on reports and updates, monitoring the team inbox, and liaising with project leaders and teams as required.

We are seeking an individual with strong administrative experience, ideally within a project support environment, and with the ability to produce clear and concise minutes. Excellent IT and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement and discretion at all times.

A genuine sympathy with the aims and values of the Church of England and an appreciation of the diverse communities of the Diocese will be important for this role. A flexible approach to occasional travel, evening commitments and adjusting working patterns when needed is also required.
