Archbishop Sarah Sets Out on a Pilgrimage to Canterbury

Ahead of her installation as Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally is undertaking a pilgrimage from St Paul’s Cathedral to Canterbury Cathedral.


Ahead of her installation as Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally is undertaking a pilgrimage from St Paul’s Cathedral to Canterbury Cathedral.

Archbishop Sarah is three days into the six-day pilgrimage, which will conclude on Sunday in time for Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral. She is joined by her husband, Eamonn, for the 140km journey, which follows the Becket Camino and reflects her journey from Bishop of London to Archbishop of Canterbury. Archbishop Sarah is joining Morning and Evening Prayer services at churches, cathedrals and abbeys along the route, as well as meeting with other pilgrims and visiting schools and ecumenical organisations. 

Bishop David will be amongst those gathered at Canterbury Cathedral to support Archbishop Sarah as she is installed as the 106th Archbishop. Ahead of the service, Bishop David shares this message of support, saying:

All are welcome to gather on Wednesday, 25th March at Manchester Cathedral to watch a live stream of the installation of the Archbishop of Canterbury together. Doors open at 2.30pm, the service starts at 3pm.
