Celebrating Creationtide: Resources, Reflections and Opportunities to Get Involved
This year's theme is Living Water, based on Ezekiel 47:1-12. God’s life-giving water flows from the temple, growing deeper, restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining all creation.
Creationtide runs from 1st September to 4th October. It is a special season in the Church calendar dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life. This year’s theme is Living Water, based on Ezekiel 47:1-12. God’s life-giving water flows from the temple, growing deeper, restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining all creation.
Throughout the season, we’ll be sharing weekly reflections and practical ways to engage with Creationtide in your church and daily life.
How to get involved
Festival of Creation in Christ
Celebrated on the first Sunday in September, the new Festival of Creation in Christ offers an opportunity for Christians to give thanks for God’s creation and redemption of the world, reflect on humanity’s responsibility to care for the natural world, and pray for its renewal.
New liturgical provision for the Holy Communion and for Morning and Evening prayers, including readings focused on creation, stewardship, and hope, can be found here:
Church House Publishing has also released A Time for Creation (Second Edition): Liturgical Resources for Creation and the Environment. This revised and expanded volume combines the new texts for the Festival of Creation in Christ with a detailed commentary from the Liturgical Commission and a wealth of services, prayers and resources for worship and discipleship throughout the Church (and Agricultural) year.
Hope for All Creation: A Theological Response to the Environmental Crises
This document sets out a Christian understanding of the environmental crises facing the world, rooting care for creation in the biblical story of creation, redemption, and renewal. It is structured around the themes of See, Reflect, Respond and is available free online or in print from Church House Publishing.
