The Revd A Daniel Ramble is stepping down from his role as Area Dean of Oldham and Ashton Deanery and will be returning to local church ministry in the Diocese of Chester, where he has been appointed as Incumbent of St George with St Gabriel, Stockport.
Daniel has served Manchester Diocese for six years, including as Area Dean of Oldham and Ashton Deanery since June 2021, and as Assistant Archdeacon of Rochdale during vacancy. In these roles, Daniel has led with prayerful oversight and pastoral care, offering faithful guidance to parishes, schools, and wider communities in Oldham and Ashton.
Reflecting on Daniel’s time in the diocese, Bishop Mark said:
“Daniel has offered wise, prayerful, and generous leadership during his time as Area Dean, particularly in complex and demanding seasons of change. He has served the clergy and people of Oldham and Ashton with pastoral attentiveness, strategic clarity, and deep faith. While we are saddened to see him go, we commend him warmly to the Diocese of Chester, trusting that his gifts will continue to bear much fruit in parish ministry. We assure him of our prayers and gratitude as he takes up this new calling.”
Revd Daniel shared:
“Vocation is often described as the place where deep gladness meets the world’s deep hunger. In discerning this call, I have come to recognise in myself a deep gladness for parish priesthood—for worship, teaching, pastoral presence, and the cure of souls—meeting, in Stockport, a deep hunger for belonging, connection, community, and communion in Christ. I go with humility and gratitude, trusting that Christ is calling me to this next season, while leaving Oldham and Ashton with deep affection and thanksgiving for all that I have received and shared.”
Daniel began his sabbatical on Wednesday, 15th April, and will take up his new post this summer. A farewell service will take place on Sunday, 17th May at 3.00 pm at St Mary’s, Haughton Green.
Please hold Daniel in your prayers as he prepares to return to parish ministry, and pray also for Oldham and Ashton Deanery in this time of transition.
