Shades Black History Month Schools Tour

This Black History Month, the Shades Team has been serving our diocese with their annual Black History & Faith Tour.

This Black History Month, the Shades Team has been serving our diocese with their annual Black History & Faith Tour. This tour helps schools and churches engage in collective worship, learn about Black History changemakers, and explore the theme of “Standing Firm in Power & Pride”.

Learn more about the Shades Project and its work by watching this short film.

Just as Jesus stood firm in truth and justice, showing us how to live boldly, faithfully and in community with one another, the Shades team has been sharing stories of hope and courage, demonstrating how lasting change arises from worshipping together in unity and faith.

This term, the team had the privilege of supporting many of our wonderful schools and churches, including St John’s CE Primary School (Radcliffe), Holy Family RC & CE College, Bolton St Catherine’s Academy (Primary & Secondary), and Bolton Parish Church, with more visits still to come. Through worship, opportunities for learning, commitment to allyship, and meaningful reflection, students and staff have embraced the message of standing firm in God’s power and choosing to stand against racism. We are especially grateful to our dedicated Shades Ambassadors, whose commitment and leadership have ensured that collective worship continues to flourish within our schools.

As we continue this journey, we are reminded of Jesus’ words in Matthew 22:39 – “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
