Summer Conference Explores the Sabbath

Last Saturday Authorised Lay Ministers (ALMs) gathered for their annual Summer Conference in celebration of ALM ministry as another year of training drew to a close. It was encouraging to see participants forgo the tennis or the sunshine to gather together to celebrate what it means to be an ALM and to grow together in faith.

Revd Anne Gilbert, Area Dean of Rochdale, helped explore the meaning of sabbath and how we could take this on board within our lives as Jesus’ disciples and as ALMs. The conference allowed ALMs to gather, meet others, share challenges and joys and to leave with something they could do to integrate sabbath values into their ALM ministry.

We are already looking forward to celebrating and learning together again soon. Thank you to the team at St Nick’s Burnage for their welcome and to all who helped facilitate us comfortably on a very hot day.
