It was with sadness that we learned of the death of The Right Revd Stephen Richard Lowe, former Bishop of Hulme.
It was with sadness that we learned of the death of The Right Revd Stephen Richard Lowe, former Bishop of Hulme.
Consecrated bishop in 1999, Stephen served as Bishop of Hulme in the Diocese of Manchester until his retirement in July 2009. He also served as the Church of England’s first Bishop for Urban Life and Faith from 2006 to 2009 and continued his ministry as an Honorary Assistant Bishop in St Asaph from 2009 to 2018.
We extend our condolences to Bishop Stephen’s family and loved ones at this time.

The Rt Revd Stephen Lowe’s Funeral
Friday 24th July at 12.30pm at Chester Cathedral followed by a private cremation for close family at Chester Crematorium.
The family will return to the Cathedral after this and in the meantime, all are welcome to stay for refreshments provided within the Cathedral. A memory book will be available for anyone who would like to leave a message.
Dress code:
In celebration of Stephen’s life there is no need for black clothing.
For clergy, only the celebrants will robe.
