Building Management Portal: Key Dates and Next Steps

The national rollout of the Church of England’s new Building Management Portal (BMP) is fast approaching, with the system scheduled to go live on Tuesday 6th October 2026.

The BMP will replace the Online Faculty System (OFS) for List A, List B and faculty applications. While the legal processes themselves are not changing, all applications will be managed through this new online platform.

Important dates

To enable existing records and applications to be transferred to the new system, the following timetable will apply:

• 5:00pm, Monday 28th September: OFS becomes read-only for all users, including parishes and dioceses.
• Tuesday 29th September: Final export of data from OFS.
• Tuesday 6th October: Building Management Portal opens to users.

What do parishes need to do?

If you need to submit an application through OFS before the migration begins, please ensure it is submitted by 5:00pm on Monday 28th September.

Once OFS becomes read-only, users will no longer be able to make changes until the migration to the new system has been completed.

What happens to existing applications?

All current and historic cases will be transferred to the Building Management Portal as part of the migration process. This includes applications that have been started but not yet submitted.

If you have an application in progress on 28th September, there is no need to worry. Your work will not be lost, and you will be able to continue and submit the application once the Building Management Portal goes live.

Training and support

National training videos and guidance materials are currently being prepared, and links to these resources will be added to our website as they become available.

Most users are unlikely to need immediate access to the Building Management Portal when it launches. Rather than undertaking training now as a precaution, we recommend familiarising yourself with the system when you have a live application to work on.
