ABOUT US
Deaneries
Our diocese is divided into seven deaneries, each bringing together local parishes to support ministry and mission across the region. They are:
- Bolton
- Bury and Rossendale
- Manchester North and East
- Manchester South and Stretford
- Oldham and Ashton
- Rochdale
- Salford and Leigh
Each deanery has an Area Dean, who works closely with clergy and laity to ensure the smooth running of each church. They support clergy, facilitate communication with the diocese, and help to manage pastoral care across the deanery.
In addition to Area Deans, Deanery Transformation Support Officers work closely with parishes and mission communities to launch new initiatives, plan events, share best practice and connect parishes to any necessary support.
Lay Chairs are individuals elected by representatives of the deanery synod who work closely with the Area Dean, clergy and lay leaders, as well as the Bishops and Archdeacon, to address any pastoral or other concerns within the deanery.
