OUR VISION

Sing my Soul

Music that stirs the soul … offering choral singing to everyone in the Diocese of Manchester

Sing my Soul is an innovative approach to church growth, using the transformative power of music to reach new people, nurture faith and strengthen communities.

The Diocese of Manchester, working in partnership with St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, is bringing beautifully inspiring choral music into local churches across Greater Manchester. Supported by the Church of England, the programme creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the joy of singing and experience the richness of sacred music.

At the heart of Sing My Soul are community and children’s choirs, led by graduates of the St Martin-in-the-Fields Choral Leadership Programme. These choirs give everyone with a passion for music the opportunity to sing, learn and belong, while helping local churches become places where music, community and faith can flourish together.

Alongside this, the Diocese of Manchester Choral Scholarship Programme offers aspiring singers from the Manchester area the opportunity to develop their skills and explore a potential career in choral music. Over nine months, Choral Scholars receive intensive training alongside practical experience of singing at services and other events.

Scholars also lead events such as Coffee Concerts and Great Sacred Music at host churches and beyond, bringing high-quality musical experiences and opportunities for spiritual and cultural enrichment to local communities.

In 2026, Sing My Soul has expanded further with the launch of the Sing My Soul Foundation Programme. This new initiative provides a development pathway into the wider programme, giving talented singers opportunities to strengthen their skills, explore a broad and inspiring repertoire, and perform as part of a supportive and ambitious musical community.

At the heart of all this is a simple belief: music has the power to transform lives. It refreshes and inspires the soul, draws people together, deepens our faith and opens our hearts to the presence of the divine. Sing My Soul is an invitation to discover that power – through singing, listening, learning and sharing music together.
