ARCHDEACONS
Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton
The Ven Simon Cook

The Ven Simon Cook is Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton.
Simon has served in Manchester Diocese since his ordination in 2008, after training in Durham as an ordinand for Carlisle Diocese. His ministry here includes his curacy in the Broughton Team in Salford, ten years in parish ministry in Kirklees Valley and latterly as Area Dean in Bury, and then five years as full-time Area Dean of Bolton. All of which makes his current role feel like coming home.
Born in Nottingham of Scottish parents, Simon grew up in Oxfordshire, and has lived and studied in Argentina, Costa Rica and the USA, worked in the Lake District, and married a Yorkshirewoman, Liz, who is a Primary School Headteacher in this Diocese. He has two grown-up sons, Reuben and Lysander, and loves film, theatre and music, as well as going to the gym and walking. Although he also loves cooking to counterbalance the exercise.
Simon delights in the variety of traditions within the Church of England, and loves to worship God and share the good news of Jesus in any way possible, and to support, mentor and encourage colleagues lay and ordained in the mission and ministry to which we are all called.’
