Eco Stepping Stones

Eco Stepping Stones is a three-part series from the Diocese of Manchester, which supports you to grow, nurture and serve across our churches and mission and communities. The resource gathers stories of eco-mission from across the diocese and enables you to grow your own eco mission where you are. We hosted our launch event on 16 September 2023 at St. John’s House. We were delighted to be joined by passionate eco ambassadors from across Manchester, including the Rt Revd Dr Matthew Porter, the Bishop of Bolton, alongside the Rt Revd John Arnold, the Bishop of Salford.

The resource has been coproduced by an interdisciplinary team from St John’s House, along with ordained and lay leaders who are committed to responding to the climate crisis. In the course we are championing the skills, abilities and ongoing work of people in the region; through the stories we are telling, the locations featured, the soundtrack used, and the underpinning methodology used throughout the coaching. It has truly been a team effort.

At the launch event, we commissioned the first cohort of Eco Champions in the Diocese of Manchester. They are working across the Mission Communities and Deaneries to grow our Eco mission. In addition, we have launched our NEW eco-champions network, which will hold monthly online gatherings. This is a chance to drop in, share stories, and support one another with eco mission, whether you are an Eco Champion or not.
