Where does the money come from and go to? The diocese has always acted as a postbox for a large number of financial transactions on behalf of the parishes.
By far the largest item of diocesan expenditure is for the stipends, pensions and ordination training of the parochial clergy.
Much smaller amounts are spent on diocesan support for the parishes, and the funding of the National Church. The diocese itself has very little income of its own. Most of the expenditure is therefore paid for by contributions from parishes called "the Parish Share".
New resources to support the communication of parish share are available in the green Finance section.
