CHURCH CALENDAR

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is an annual, worldwide prayer movement that runs from Ascension Day to Pentecost, and invites Christians everywhere to pray for more people to come to know Jesus.

Launched by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, this ecumenical initiative runs from Ascension Day to Pentecost, uniting the global Church across traditions and denominations in prayer and mission.

What’s it All About?

Every person, household, and church is invited to take part—praying in their own way and in their own context. The heart of the movement is simple:

That more people might hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and respond to His love.

Everyone is encouraged to:

  • Pray for five people they know to come to faith in Jesus
  • Engage in prayer and mission in their local contexts
  • Join with Christians across the world in this season of unity, purpose, and spiritual renewal

Why It Matters

In a time when the world feels uncertain, the need for the transforming power and mercy of God is as urgent as ever. TKC invites us to partner with God—to pray for friends, neighbours, family, and colleagues to encounter Christ for themselves.

Since it began in 2016, Thy Kingdom Come has grown into a movement involving over a million Christians, across 85 denominations in 90% of countries worldwide.

This Year’s Theme

This year’s theme is ‘God with Us’, and how the Holy Spirit has been at work in the world. Across the 11 days, participants are invited to journey through a series of Bible stories, from Ruth and Gideon, to Elijah and the early church waiting for the promised Holy Spirit. Each story reveals something of God’s transforming presence, power, and love at work in everyday lives and situations.

And the heart of Thy Kingdom Come, as always, is the Prayer for Five, as we pray on behalf of five of our friends, family members, neighbours, or colleagues who do not yet follow Christ, that they may come to know Him as we do.

You can get involved individually, with others in a group setting, or as a church. As we commit to praying, we do so in hope and trust that those we pray for will encounter God’s life‑changing love and be drawn closer to Him.
