Confirmation

Confirmation is a significant milestone in the Christian journey. It’s a moment when individuals – often young people, but adults too – publicly affirm the promises made at baptism and commit to living out their faith with the support of their church. Through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, candidates are strengthened by the Holy Spirit and welcomed into the life of the Church.

Whether you’re exploring confirmation for yourself, your child, or someone you support in ministry, it’s a time of deep reflection, preparation, and celebration. Many churches offer confirmation preparation courses to help candidates understand the foundations of Christian belief and what it means to follow Jesus today.

Confirmation is open to anyone who has been baptised and feels ready to take this next step. If you are interested in being confirmed, please contact your local vicar to discuss the next steps.

Upcoming Confirmation Services

We hold confirmation services throughout the year across the diocese, led by our bishops in local churches and cathedrals. If you’re considering confirmation or supporting someone who is, you can find upcoming service dates and locations below.
